MY REVIEW

I remember checking out Harlequin many years ago and deciding it wasn’t for me.  However, when this tour was announced I decided I would like to see whether things had changed.  Well time has moved on and yes, they definitely have- and for the better.  I really enjoyed Her Hometown Redemption.  Tanya has returned to the coastal town of Templeton, a place she left eight years ago.  Back then she was ambitious and influenced by her mother to such an extent that she also abandoned Liam, the man she loved.  But things haven’t worked out the way she planned and she’s now back to try and start a new life.  And there is also something else she has to do: find the man who molested her younger sister and bring him to justice. Meeting Liam again Tanya realises the feelings they had for each other are still simmering beneath the surface.  Liam feels the same way but is not about to get hurt again.  Offering to help her track down the man who abused her sister, they are constantly thrown into each other’s company.  As emotions flare between them once more, can they put the past behind them and begin again or is it too late?

A lovely romantic story with believable and well rounded characters.  I loved Liam’s strength…and he also had a lot of patience.  Tanya was a strange mixture of vulnerable and tough with a need to prove she wasn’t the woman who had left all those years ago and that she was deserving of Liam’s love.

If there was one slight niggle I had about this book – and it has nothing to do with the author or the quality of the writing – it’s the Americanisation of the English language in it.  This is a purely personal thing and although it did slightly spoil  the read for me, it in no way affected my final star rating.

MY REVIEW

I really enjoyed A Jersey Dreamboat.  Although Issy and Jess’s characters are very different there’s an unbreakable bond of friendship between the two girls.  As the story begins, they’ve been let down badly by a wealthy client, leaving them in dire straits.  Salvation comes in the form of a hotel fire, which enables them to take over the wedding arrangements for a couple who were planning their reception there.  The gorgeous Ed, who Jess has more than a passing fancy for, arranges for the reception to be held at his godfather’s mansion.  Everything seems to be going well until there is sabotage and the finger points at one person in particular.  But are they really to blame? And what about Ed’s beautiful ex-wife Marie who works at the mansion?  Although they’re no longer married, somehow Jess suspects he still has very strong feelings for her. Feelings that, despite his protests to the contrary, could affect their own budding romance.

This was a lovely lighthearted story with lots of twists and turns and some great characters. Nothing was as it seemed and the plot threw up some interesting surprises.

MY REVIEW

Carol never fails to entertain me.  Whether it’s through one of her novels or something like this, it’s guaranteed to not only bring a smile to my face but cheer me up.  Therefore when this tour was announced, I jumped at the opportunity to read and review Grumpies On Board.

This book has it all.  Set out alphabetically it contains the familiar and not so familiar things you might want to know about holidays and travel.  It’s full of hilarious observations as well as helpful information on anything and everything to do with roaming either near or far from home.  This was a total departure from the normal novels I read and review and was thoroughly entertaining from beginning to end.  I was able to identify with many of the situations she described – especially her thoughts air travel. Yes, Grumpies are a breed apart, but their world and perceptions are also hugely entertaining. Definitely another winner from Carol!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

June Moonbridge The person behind the name of June Moonbridge, has many names and many faces too. Although living in the same area, she was born and raised in one country  and now living in another.

She studied economics, and quickly realised she hated it. Afterwards, she found herself working in mainly male businesses; at first in automotive and later – steel products productions. She can choose for you the best steel you need, but don’t, please don’t, ask her which lipstick to use.

She started to write in her high school and was negatively criticised by her teacher. Stubborn as she is that didn’t stop her. Under different pen names for her stories she tried to get some independent opinions, which came back as good reviews in magazines and later she published three books.

Giving birth to two children, and learning that her second child has Autism, she married the father of them and continued to work. All that together took all of her free time. But the desire to write didn’t die. When life somehow sorted itself out, she decided to write her novel in English and her first submission to Safkhet was rejected…

For what happened later… read third paragraph, second sentence.
